ATM Robbery in Rajarhat : How the Thieves Got Away With Rs 5 Lakh ATM Robbery in Rajarhat | How the Thieves Got Away With Rs 5 Lakh In a daring heist, a group of masked thieves broke into an ATM of a nationalised bank in Monikhola, Rajarhat, and stole around Rs 5 lakh cash.  The incident, which took place on Tuesday night, was discovered on Wednesday morning by the bank officials who came to repair the machine. How the Thieves Broke the ATM :  According to the police, the thieves cut the cable that connected the ATM machine to the bank’s intranet network, which made the machine go offline.  They also disabled the CCTV cameras and the alarm system of the ATM, which had no security guard. The thieves then used a gas cutter to cut a side panel of the ATM and accessed the cash box.  They took out the money through the cut portion and fled the scene. The incident took place on Monday night at Shiv Mandir in Matigara area of the city. How the Robbery Attempt Failed :  According to the police, a gang of eight robbers entered the ATM, lowered the shutter and started to break open the machine with a gas-cutter.  However, a short circuit from the gas-cutter triggered a fire in the ATM, which soon engulfed the entire machine.
