The incident took place on Monday night at Shiv Mandir in Matigara area of the city. How the Robbery Attempt Failed : According to the police, a gang of eight robbers entered the ATM, lowered the shutter and started to break open the machine with a gas-cutter. However, a short circuit from the gas-cutter triggered a fire in the ATM, which soon engulfed the entire machine. The robbers were unaware of the fire until a police patrol van arrived at the spot and confronted them.
