Recently, the Raj Bhavan in West Bengal has been embroiled in controversy following several orders issued by Governor C.V. Ananda Bose.

In response to allegations of sexual harassment against Governor C.V. Ananda Bose, an order was issued on May 2, banning the entry of the police and State Finance Minister, Chandrima Bhattacharya, into the Raj Bhavan premises. 

The order cited defamation and anti-constitutional media statements as reasons for the ban, particularly targeting Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya.

Ban on Entry and Participation:

The ban extended to Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya's entry into the Raj Bhavan premises in Kolkata, Darjeeling, and Barrackpore. 

Additionally, Governor Bose instructed that he would not participate in any function attended by the Minister, further escalating tensions between the state government and the Governor's office.

Legal Steps and Response:

The order also mentioned seeking advice from the Attorney General of India for further legal steps against Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya, highlighting the seriousness of the situation. 

In response to the allegations, the Governor reiterated his commitment to fighting corruption and violence in Bengal, refusing to be deterred by what he termed as "engineered narratives."

Investigations and Reactions:

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Police initiated an inquiry into the allegations and requested CCTV footage from the Raj Bhavan to aid in their investigation. 

However, the ban on police entry into the Raj Bhavan premises for conducting investigations raised concerns about transparency and accountability.
