The seismic event occurred in southeastern Bangladesh at a depth of 55 km around 9:05 am, as reported by the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

However, the West Bengal Disaster Management Department swiftly reassured the public, stating that, as of now, no damage has been reported anywhere in the state.

"We are yet to receive the final report. Currently, there is no indication of any damage caused by the earthquake," mentioned an official in a statement to PTI.


City Officials Confirm Safety : 

Both the Kolkata Police and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation conducted assessments, affirming that no damage to life or property was reported from the eastern metropolis. This provided additional relief to the residents of Kolkata.


Monitoring the Situation : 

Despite the initial reports of safety, authorities are closely monitoring the situation. Seismologists and disaster management teams are on high alert, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of the seismic activity and its aftermath.
