The Indian cricket team is gearing up for their final league match of the World Cup 2023 against the Netherlands on Sunday. 

However, they did not let the pressure of the tournament dampen their festive spirit. 

KL Rahul, the star batsman and wicket-keeper, shared some glimpses of how he and his teammates celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights, in Bangalore.

KL Rahul: A versatile and valuable player for India : 

KL Rahul is one of the most talented and consistent players in the Indian cricket team. 

He has proved his mettle in all three formats of the game, scoring runs with grace and flair. 

He is also a reliable wicket-keeper, who can fill in the gloves when needed.

Rahul made his international debut in 2014 and has since scored over 6000 runs across Tests, ODIs and T20Is. 

He holds the record for being the first and only Indian to score a century on his ODI debut, which he achieved against Zimbabwe in 2016. 

He is also the fastest Indian to score a century in all three formats, reaching the milestone in just 46 balls in a T20I against West Indies in 2016.

Rahul’s inclusion in the World Cup 2023 squad was a testament to his form and fitness, as he had missed the previous match due to a hamstring injury. 

He has been a vital cog in India’s batting line-up, providing stability and firepower at the top of the order.

Team India celebrates Diwali with joy and enthusiasm : 

Despite the hectic schedule and intense preparation for the World Cup, Rahul and his teammates took some time off to celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil. 

They lit up diyas, candles and crackers, and exchanged sweets and gifts with each other. 

They also wore traditional attire and posed for pictures, which Rahul shared on his social media account.

Rahul wrote a heartfelt message for his fans and followers, saying, “From us to all of you, Happy Diwali.” 

He also expressed his gratitude for the support and love that the team has received throughout the tournament. 

He said, “We are thankful for your blessings and wishes. We hope to make you proud in the upcoming match.”

Conclusion: India aims to end the league stage on a high note : 

India has already qualified for the semi-finals of the World Cup 2023, having won six out of their seven matches so far. 

They are currently at the top of the points table, with 12 points and a superior net run rate. 

They will face the Netherlands, who are at the bottom of the table, with no wins and six losses.

India will look to maintain their momentum and confidence, and end the league stage on a high note. 

They will also aim to fine-tune their skills and strategies, and avoid any injuries or complacency.
