Dhanteras holds immense significance in Hinduism, celebrated nationwide with grandeur. 

Homes are adorned with lights, rangoli, and diyas, creating a festive ambiance. 

This auspicious occasion encourages the purchase of new items, symbolizing good fortune. 

The tradition extends to buying new clothes, household items, and precious metals.

Mythological Roots of Dhanteras : 

According to legend, Dhanteras marks the appearance of Goddess Laxmi and Lord Dhanvantri during the Samudra Manthan. 

The festival also involves worshipping Yama Dev, the Lord of Death, seeking blessings for the family's well-being.

Dhanteras 2023: Rituals to Please Goddess Laxmi : 

1. Kheer Offering: Present Kheer as bhog prasad, known as Goddess Laxmi's favorite sweet dish.

2. Kamal Gatta: Offer 21 or ideally 108 Kamal Gatta beads to seek Goddess Laxmi's blessings.

3. Lotus Flower: Offer 11 Lotus flowers to Maa Lakshmi for divine blessings.

4. Chant Mantras: Recite mantras dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi.

5. Yellow Unbroken Rice: Mix turmeric with rice, turning it yellow, and place it in front of the idol of Goddess Laxmi.

6. Worship Shree Yantra: Include Shree Yantra in the puja, as Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped in this form.

Dhanteras 2023: Puja Rituals 

1. Wake up early, take a holy bath.

2. Clean and decorate both the interior and exterior of the house.

3. During Puja Muhurat, place idols of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Laxmi, Lord Kuber, and Lord Dhanvantri.

4. Perform puja with diya, tilak, garland, and sweets.

5. Purchase auspicious items during shubh muhurat, placing them in front of the idols for puja.

6. In the evening, light a diya outside the house towards the southwest, offering it to Lord Yama.

Mahalaxmi Mantra: Om Shreem Hreem Shreem Kamle Kamlalaye Praseed Praseed Shreem Hreem Shreem Om Mahalaxmi Namah..!!

Kuber Mantra: Om Yakshay Kuberay Vaishravanay Dhandhanyadhipatiye, Dhandhanysamruddhi me dehi dapah swaha..!!

Dhanvantri Mantra: Aum Namo Bhagavathe, Vasudevaya Dhanvantraye, Amruta Kalasa Hasthaya, Sarvaamaya Vinaashanaaya, Thrailokhya Naathaaya, Sri Mahavishnave Namaha..!!
